Volunteer

Would you like to visit Romania and experience working with rescue animals first hand?
If so, then you would be perfect for volunteering at our partner shelter! All we need is for you to arrive with an open mind and be ready to get your hands dirty!

What Might My Day Look Like?

There is no such thing as a typical day at the shelter. You might be asked to help with feeding and cleaning, refilling water bowls or disinfecting pens. You could be asked to spend some time with a nervous dog who’s learning to trust, or do a photoshoot for a dog we’re putting up for adoption.

Overall, we just like our volunteers to spend as much time as possible socialising the dogs and building their confidence around humans. This will include playing, lead walking practice and if the dog is happy to, plenty of cuddles!

For our more nervous and younger residents, human interaction is fundamental for building confidence to give these animals the best possible chance of being rehomed. The days are long, but the time flies and the experiences are so rewarding.

Our partner shelter has two fully enclosed runs/play areas to bring the dogs into for exercise and playing.

Where is the Shelter?

Our partner shelter is located in Solca, Romania. The closest airport is Suceava, a one-hour drive from the shelter.

As the shelter is in a rural location, we ask that all volunteers, who plan to travel solo, are able to drive and can hire a car for their visit. If you cannot drive but would still like to volunteer, please send us a message and we can assess this on an individual basis. We may be able to provide a homestay, however this is not always guaranteed, and volunteers may need to book their own accommodation.

There are guesthouses and a couple of good Airbnb’s a short drive away.
