COULD YOU BE AZARIA’S CHANCE?
Azaria, along with her mum Tamsin and sisters Tiggy and Tania, were found in the town over from Solca. Elisa was alerted via Instagram by a lady who desperately needed help; she had been feeding this little family for weeks and knew they needed more help than she could give.
Elisa took on the whole family and due to the DEFRA ban, Azaria, her siblings and spent much longer at the shelter. They have all found homes now, but Azaria is still waiting.
Azaria is looking for an experienced home - more specifically, a family who has experience with nervous dogs - to support her in learning to love life in a home. She will need a quiet home with a secure garden, situated in a rural or semi-rural location.
Likes:
Azaria loves to run around in the play area with her pen mates. She loves squeaky toys and is food motivated. Azaria is very clever; when she feels safe, she is very trainable!
Dislikes:
Azaria is fearful of humans and is hand shy. She will need a confident, older dog in her home to teach her that humans can be trusted.
Azaria does not like to share things that she deems valuable so will need support in learning how to do this.
We expect that as Azaria is hand shy, she may be reluctant to wear a harness and lead until trusting bonds have been formed with her owner. For this reason, Azaria will most likely be house-bound for some time and will need a family who feel confident that they can support her through this essential time of learning and confidence-building as she settles into home life.
Azaria will need a home without children due to her nervous nature around humans.
August update from our volunteers who travelled to Romania:
“Right from the start seemed really at ease taking treats from my hand but would let the bigger dogs (Bo and Zaire) get there first. As the week went on she definitely got more confident to push her way in whether for affection or treats.
She would often be on the other side of the enclosure when we arrived but would come running back in when we arrived. Or would be happy to take treats through the fence (along with some of the little strays and Bo).
She seemed at ease with all the dogs.
She started following us on the walks when taking out some of the other dogs and seemed really relaxed. She wasn’t looking to get away but happy to be in our company. So much potential and a real sweet heart.”
