COULD YOU BE DILL’S MATCH?

Dill’s mum Cary was found at the dump pregnant and taken back to the shelter. She gave birth at the shelter, hiding her babies under the pen.

When Dill and his siblings were moved into a pen, Cary, shy and fearful of humans,  wouldn’t go in with them out of fear initially. Summoning her courage though she managed to break into the play area to get to their pen, coming in running despite her fear and checking on each of her pups individually after only 24 hours apart. Safe at the shelter and with such a good mama looking after them, they have grown into playful, curious pups.

Dill is one of the shyer members of the group but he’s coming out of his shell more each day with the help of his sister Clover. He interacts well with all his siblings and is happy to explore and play in the pen with them. As one of the smaller of the group he can normally be spotted at the bottom of the pile up  (it’s tough being a small guy!) but as soon as the treats come out he’s up and ready to get them!

Despite being shy, he seeks interaction with humans and given the choice is always approaching, sniffing and climbing on our volunteers’ laps when food is around. He has been working on being comfortable with being picked up and handled and his confidence with this increased over the week, even finally learning the joys of a tummy rub.

Dill needed some reassurance and some time to feel ok in the harness on the lead. Once he realised it was his ticket to adventure he was off to explore. His first walk went really well and he certainly loved showing off in front of the camera as well as all the praise thrown his way.

When the puppies were given a cabbage and cardboard to shred he preferred to seize the moment and go get pets and snack from the volunteers while his siblings were distracted causing cabbage chaos.

He’s a quieter, thoughtful boy, and we cannot wait to see him thrive in a home.
