COULD YOU BE ETTA’S MATCH?

Etta (previously Lulu) was part of the ‘Snow Angel’ litter of pups and was adopted all the way back in 2021. She was found with her siblings who have all been adopted in the UK. Sadly, after being in a home for 3.5 years, Etta is coming back into our care and is needing to find a new home. Currently based in Bristol she is ready for meet and greets.

Etta is a very clever and playful dog. She loves to play chase with her humans and doggy friends as well as using her nose to hunt for treasures in her sandpit!

The reason Etta is being handed back is that she is struggling with some behaviour issues that her adopters don’t believe they can work on in their current situation. One thing that would be best for Etta would be to live in a rural environment and with a small confident companion dog. Her current owners say she is a much more confident dog with another dog around and would help her progress in areas she is currently struggling with.

Etta struggles with reactivity around different life obstacles, one of which is meeting new people particularly in the house. She feels most comfortable when new people ignore her and are calm. With the correct introductions, she can develop really lovely relationships with female and male humans, and once you have gained Etta’s trust, she is really affectionate and loves tummy rubs and head scratches. This goes the same with dogs, with the right introductions Etta has been able to go out on group dog walks and attend doggie day care. She is playful with other dogs but generally prefers smaller dogs.

Etta is able to be left alone and can easily do up to 4 hours, during that time she uses the crate, taking herself for a nap and being given enrichment. She is house trained and crate trained.

Outside on walks she finds it difficult to deal triggers and shows fear-based reactivity towards children, wheelchairs/bikes, runners and other loud unexpected noises. She needs help to build up her confidence around these areas to feel more comfortable in different situations, however this would need to be built slowly and gradually. As she is a smart doggo and takes treats like there is no tomorrow, she will make progress, providing that she can take it at her own pace and isn’t overstimulated.

She adores her toys, chasing and playing with them, however tends not to bring them back! She loves treasure hunts where she can hunt some tasty treats, including her snuffle mats and puzzle games.

She loves to interact with the agility equipment at the enclosed field, often jumping and climbing , all for a treat of course! She loves exploring and roaming in rural countryside and more open spaces which allows her focus on her environment rather than watching for triggers. She is happy to go in the car, particularly to go to a quieter area for her walks.

Whilst Etta does have some areas that need to be worked on, she has some amazing qualities that make her a wonderful, fun and friendly dog. If you are willing to put in the time and effort, she will give you her whole heart.
