Heidi is currently being fostered in the UK. Here’s what her fosterer has to say about Heidi’s journey so far;

“Heidi is a gentle, loving, kind girl who is shy and nervous until you’ve gained her trust. She has made slow but steady progress with us. We have found that she needs lots of confident, gentle guidance. She is happiest when all is quiet and it’s just one to one with me or Issy (my daughter) and the dogs. She particularly loves a bum scratch!

She has learnt lots from our four legged family, Queenie has taught her lots of play moves and kept her in check like a mother figure would. Parker has helped bring out her inner pup playing chase and tug (although he gets tired before Heidi does! She could do with a friend to match her energy levels)

Heidi loves her toys and really enjoys throwing them around and playing tug. It’s lovely to watch her “be a dog” and see that lovely playful side of her…”

HEIDI’S FOSTER STORY

HEIDI’S FOSTER STORY CONTINUED

“…Heidi found the art of digging all on her own and has gone from being reluctant to be in the garden to enjoying sniffing, zooming and digging whatever the weather. We think she would love a sandpit!

She is well behaved on the lead and walks nicely, if scared she sometimes swims around behind my legs and if taken by surprise will let out a bark, but soon stops once she knows I’ve got her back.

Heidi is quite good around traffic, but she is not a fan of noisy vehicles like lorries and busses. Our quieter country walks are better. She panics when she hears people having loud conversations and really struggles when children are screaming or crying.

Heidi sleeps well in her crate over night (crate door closed, as this seems to help with her sleeping through. She was trying to get the other dogs to play as soon as it got light) and during the day she is in her crate and pen, so that she has more space while I’m working (she will spend most of her day sleeping in her crate and occasionally come out for a stretch).

After her evening walk, she will settle in her crate before her tea, once her tea has gone down she will have a play in the garden and then settle on her raised bed while we watch TV before bed.

It took a while for Heidi to get into a routine with her food and she can be reluctant to take treats but we continue to work on this. She loves a carrot at bed time!”

If you think you have the love and patience required to be Heidi’s perfect match, please complete our adoption form and express your interest in Heidi.
