Nelson was found on the outskirts of town, scared and alone. He was so nervous that Elisa had to catch him with a trap - but this boy needed help. He was absolutely covered in ticks and when taken to the vets, tested positive for babesiosis. He is now in optimum health!

In September 2023 Nelson travelled over to the UK to continue his journey in finding his forever home. We can’t believe the progress this boy has made with all the volunteers. He’s gone from hiding away in the back of his kennel to bouncing around with excitement on their arrival. Through consistent training and exposure Nelson has made incredible progress from a boy that was too scared to be touched to throwing himself on the floor for a belly rub once he’s built a relationship with his handler.

Nelson currently lives between kennels and a foster home to further his training in domestic life. He has taken to this new set up very well, sleeps over night without a peep, and thrives in a home life routine.

Due to Nelson’s more nervous nature a home with a secure garden is a must whilst he settles in and builds his relationships with his new family.

He lives beautifully with other resident dogs in the home, and although not playful with them he takes their guidance in the home and out on walks. Nelson has shown no signs of guarding from dogs or humans.

He would suit a rural/ semi rural or suburban home that has access to quieter walks, as out in nature is where you see Nelson at his most joyful. He enjoys hiking and exploring the country side, zooming around and playing games with his foster family.

Nelson has not been cat tested yet but has shown no signs of prey drive towards other smaller animals.
