ROCKY’S STORY

Rocky arrived in the U.K. back in July 2020 as a 4 month old pup.

Rocky spent his first 3.5 years in a home here in the UK but sadly back in December 2023, Rocky returned to our care and is now living in a kennel in Rotherham where our dedicated team of volunteers are working with him closely

WHY WAS ROCKY HANDED BACK INTO OUR CARE?

Although Rocky develops relationships with both men and women easily, he sometimes struggled with some men coming into the home environment. Since being back with us, Rocky has met a wide range of men and women and has taken to them instantly, without any reactivity. With the right approach/training, we know he can truly shine in a home environment.

Rocky did share his previous home with another dog but with Rocky’s much more laid back characteristics it’s possible the other high energy resident dog wasn’t a good match and was overwhelming for Rocky.

COULD YOU BE ROCKY’S MATCH?

Rocky loves his walks and happily trots along at your pace. Our volunteers are working with Rocky to tackle his mild reactivity on the lead and we’ve seen some major improvements! A little guidance and consistent training is key to this boys success ❤️

He currently receives a walk at least once a day around the reservoir so he’s getting exposed to people, dogs, ducks and other wildlife as well as all the different sights, sounds and smells. Rocky walks with confidence with our volunteers and also enjoys his training sessions in the enclosed space at the kennels as well.

One of Rocky’s favourite things is fuss! This boy LOVES a cuddle and will sit around for hours while you rub his tummy. He equally loves a good brush and mini pamper session

Rocky is a bright little button and loves learning new commands (anything for a tasty snack 😉)

We are currently working with Sally, The Canine Dietician to tackle Rocky’s recurring ear infection so that we can get to the root cause of the problem and prevent future flare ups. This process also involves muzzle training Rocky (which he loves as it means he gets lots of cheese) so that he’s 100% comfortable wearing it ready for any physical examinations.

Rocky did live with children but we would prefer a home without them to set him up for ultimate success. He waits patiently for his meals and is very polite when playing with toys, he will drop and give you the toy back for you to play with him again- we haven’t seen any displays of resource guarding whilst at the kennels.

If you think you have the love and patience required to be Rocky’s perfect match, please complete our adoption form and express your interest in Rocky.
