COULD YOU BE TOOTSIE’S MATCH?

Tootsie has been at the shelter for over a year, he was being fed on the streets a man in Sucevita a few towns over, he tried his best to help street dogs and Tootsie was relying on this knight in shining kibble for food. After a few meetings he was able to secure Tootsie and we were able to bring him back to the shelter and finally off the streets.

Tootsie is an affectionate gentleman who is happy to be around dogs and humans. He has been around multiple types of dogs at the shelter, puppies, adults, big, small and dogs that can get anxious/difficult around other dogs and he has handled them all very well. He loves to play with everyone and would love to be in a home with anothet dog that would be happy with a playmate.

He is a very confident boy when the volunteers met him at the shelter in August, and the subsequent volunteers that have met him since. He was very comfortable accepting the harness and going out for walks around the shelter. So much so Tootsie was able to be taken into town and back to the volunteers accommodation to see how he fared in a busier setting. Tootsie took everything in his stride from the car journey to the new environments. The only thing Tootsie found scary on these adventures was faster moving traffic. He tried to run away when walking closer to busy roads but with time and training we have no doubt he will be able to overcome this in a home.

Tootsie is a VERY(!) food motivated dog and will stay by your side forever if you have treats! This will be a huge asset for training and building a bond with his new home. He is always very kind and willing to share good toys and affection with all the other dogs in the play area.

Tootsie was able to meet some cats that free roam at the shelter, he showed a lot of interest in the cat so was not let offlead as he may have chased if the opportunity presented itself. We also believe with time and training in a home setting and with management in place he could also build a relationship to live with a cat in the home.

Tootsie is an incredibly well rounded, confident and sociable dog that enjoys both human and dog company, as with all our dogs in Romania it takes time to fully see their personalities shine when they first arrive into the home and sometimes this can present new challenges that may not be apparent at the shelter.

However Tootsie has shown his adaptability and loving side and will be perfect companion for someone who enjoys a big furry kisses!
