Leo was from the first litter of puppies we supported through Elisa, all the way back in Spring 2020. He wad rescued alongside his 3 sisters and travelled to a home in Autumn 2020.

Sadly, after being in his home for 3 years, Leo is coming back into our care. We are hoping we can find him a foster or adoptive home suited to his needs.

Over the past 3 years, Leo has developed behavioural issues that his family do not feel they have the time to work through.

Our volunteers have met Leo twice over the last few weeks and have lots of information to share with regards to his needs. One thing we know is that he would really struggle in a kennel setting and we are praying there is someone out there who can help Leo, with our support.

LEO’S STORY

COULD YOU BE LEO’S PERFECT MATCH?

Leo is a nervous, uncertain little lad and displays some fear based reactivity out on his walks although when handled by someone a little more experienced and given space, he chooses to use that space and move away as opposed to reacting.

He can develop relationships with people and dogs, but this does take time. It’s heartbreaking seeing him struggle with the world, but we know in the right home, he can really flourish.

Leo’s main issues are around resource guarding and being handled when he isn’t feeling comfortable and this is heightened when he isn’t feeling well. He will bite if he feels there is no other option and other warning signs are ignored. We know this completely goes against Leo and most people will see the word bite and scroll past BUT there is SO much that can be done to help him and so many more avenues to explore for him to help him feel more comfortable in these situations.

He currently shares the home with another dog and could live with or without another dog. All we ask is that any resident dog is calm and confident to help Leo be the best version, as a boisterous dog would be too much for such a sensitive soul.

If you think you have the love and patience required to be Leo’s perfect match, please complete our adoption form and express your interest in him.
