ALFIE’S STORY

Alfie was rescued as a young dog from the streets of Bucharest. He thrived at the shelter and was a volunteer favourite. Always the front of the queue for a ‘sit on your knee’ cuddle and a groom. He came to the UK in 2020 and has been in the same home for the last 4 years.

Sadly, his family have had a baby since adopting Alfie and do not feel equipped to support Alfie through his behavioural needs.

COULD YOU BE ALFIE’S MATCH?

Alfie is a wonderful pet in so many ways! He is happy to be left alone in the home and takes himself off for a nap on his foot stool when the house is quiet. He is toilet trained and has never been destructive. He loves the neighbours, especially their children and gets a full body wiggle when he sees them! He loves rural walks and has fantastic recall. He plays beautifully with dogs when he is off the lead and although he doesn’t live with other dogs, he shares his home with visiting dogs without issue. Even the more boisterous ones aren’t an issue for him and he will just take himself off if things are a bit much.

He is as ‘fit as a butcher’s dog’ and has no health issues other than the occasional itchy paws in summer.

Alfie will need some support with certain areas of his day to day life though. This includes reactivity on the lead to other dogs and noisy traffic as well as some uncertainty around guests in the home. This is more people who do not feel confident around dogs. If you are dog savvy, he will welcome you with open paws and a lot of love; the carpet fitter who visited recently can attest to that!

He does have some guarding issues around his food but this has always been well managed by giving him his own space. Although Alfie does get along well with children, it is this reason why we would like him to go to a child free home.

His family are incredibly upset about rehoming him and want the best for him moving forward. We are so hoping we can find that special someone for Alfie.
